Hylke Vervaeke has finished her PhD. thesis "Initiation and continuation: Social context and behavioural aspects of ecstasy use"! It's available throuhg DAREnet: http://dare.uva.nl/record/315932.
I plan to use this site to collect my research on ecstasy use. More specifically, most of it deals with reasons and determinants of ecstasy use. If you have done research in this area, and you would also like me to link to it, or if you want to have one or several pages on this site, just contact me!
Published articles
At this moment, I have placed three articles here that have been published Open Access. One in Addiction (a meta-analysis of determinants of ecstasy use -you can find it here) and two in the Open Access journal BMC Public Health (a qualitative study among dance scene members in the Netherlands -you can find it here, and a qualitative review of reasons for ecstasy use and related behaviours -you can find it here).
The qualitative review
Furthermore, I used this website to conduct the qualitative review on the reasons for ecstasy use and related behaviours. In this review, I tried to cluster reasons together in an attempt to integrate the data. Of course, my choices in this clustering were partly subjective. Therefore, I share my data with everybody, so that interested readers can examine the reasons in each category. On this page, you can see an overview of different pages with overviews of the reasons (i.e. sorted by behaviour, sorted by reason category, etc). A table with all the reasons is here.
My phd thesis
I have placed my phd thesis, "Determinants of ecstasy use and harm reduction strategies: informing evidence based intervention development", online at http://phdthesis.nl/gjalt-jorn or http://dr.gjalt-jorn.nl. The three articles I placed here are also in the phd thesis, along with an introduction and discussion, and five quantitative studies into ecstasy use.
